LAREDO, Texas (October 20, 2017) –
The Texas A&M International women's soccer team will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 21, when they host Heartland Conference foe Newman at the friendly confines of the Dustdevil Soccer Field. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m.

The Dustdevils (3-9-1, 2-8-1 HC) look to rebound after suffering 2-0 setback at the hands of Rogers State on Thursday night The offense never found its groove against a tough Hillcat defense as TAMIU was shutout for the sixth time this season. NU (6-7-2, 5-3-2 HC) comes into Saturday's match on a high note after Erin Mink scored twice in the final 20 minutes to lift the Jets over St. Mary's and keep their tournament hopes alive. The Jets had only one point out of three matches before the comeback victory in San Antonio.

A LOOK AT THE ALL-TIME SERIES
Saturday's match will be the 17th meeting between the two schools with the Jets holding a 12-3-2 advantage. The Dustdevils have lost four straight in the series after winning three straight from 2012-13.

THE LAST TIME AROUND
The Dustdevils allowed two goals in the first 20 minutes in a 2-0 loss to the Jets on Sept. 14 in Wichita, Kan. Rosa Urista-Chico (10:12) and Grace Linton (18:48) both scored for NU as TAMIU were held to a season-low four shots.

A LOOK AT THE JETS
Aaron Avila (15-11-7) has the Jets in the hunt for the fourth and final tournament spot heading into the final three matches of the season. NU's 19 points are just two behind Lubbock Christian as the teams are scheduled to play each on the final day of the regular season in Lubbock.

Rosa Urista-Chico and Grace Linton lead a potent Jets offense that has outscored opponents 35-21 so far this season. Urista-Chico's 10 goals rank her second in the conference in goals behind TAMIU's Cio Bargallo while Linton's eight goals are good enough for third. Colleen Howland has a conference-high eight assists including two in the past two matches. Karen Tamayo and Erin Mink have been key reserves for NU having scored five and four goals respectively.

Ashley Sweetnam has been impressive in goal for the Jets so far in 2017 making 15 starts making 39 saves while allowing only 21 goals. The redshirt sophomore ranks fourth in the conference in shutout percentage (.200) while her goals against average is fifth (1.376).

STATS WATCH
Monica Castro's eight career assist are the fourth most in a career in TAMIU history. She has a career-high five assists in 2017 which ties her with Sam Zerilli (2012, 2013) and Sandy Hernandez (2006) for the third-most in a single season.

Aubrey Hall ranks second in the conference in saves per game (5.08) while her goals against average (2.11) is the sixth-lowest in a single season in program history.

The Dustdevils are 0-9-1 when the opponent scores first with the draw coming against Eastern New Mexico on Sept. 8 in San Antonio.

The Dustdevils are averaging 219 fans per home match this season or close to a 100 more than last year. The 219 fans per match is the highest average attendance for TAMIU since averaging 234 in 2014.

BARGALLO LOOKING TO MAKE HISTORY
Bargallo enters the final three matches of the 2017 season two goals short of becoming the ninth player in conference history to score 17 goals or more in a single season. Incarnate Word's Brooke Hopkins owns three of the top four goal scoring marks including a Heartland-best 29 in 2001.

HEARTLAND IN THE RANKINGS
For the first time in 2017 there were zero Heartland Conference schools in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Women's National Poll. St. Edward's, who was receiving votes, was left out of the poll after dropping a 2-1 decision to RSU on Saturday. Dallas Baptist is the top ranked team in the Massey Ratings coming in at 27th with SEU at 46th and RSU in 49th.

UP NEXT
