GOODWELL, Oklahoma (February 23, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Men's Basketball team took on Oklahoma Panhandle State University on Thursday night in Goodwell. TAMIU picked up a 90-81 win, moving to 19-9 overall (12-5 Heartland Conference).
First Half:
TAMIU jumped out to an early 14-0 lead in Thursday's matchup. The Dustdevils would continue to control play throughout the first half, pushing the lead to 20 at it's highest point. After 20 minutes of play, the Dustdevils led the Aggies 48-34.
Jordan VanDeKop picked up a team high nine points in the first half.
Arthur Santanna controlled the boards, picking up six rebounds through 20 minutes of action.
Second Half:
The Dustdevils did not let up after the halftime break. TAMIU would open a second 20 point lead with 6:11 remaining in regulation. The Aggies would cut into the lead with just under three minutes remaining, bringing the game within 13. OPSU would come within seven points with just over :30 in regulation before TAMIU put the game away, winning 90-81.
Denzel Bellot led all scorers in the second half, pouring in 17 points for TAMIU.
Bunja Yaboe matched Santanna's six first-half rebounds with six of his own in the final 20 minutes.
Bellot finished with 24 points in the win. Yaboe picked up a double-double, grabbing 11 rebounds couples with 16 points. VanDeKop finished the night with 18 points and seven rebounds.

Bryan Weakley commented on the win, "We played well for 30 minutes then started making some mistakes we haven't made in awhile. We need to learn from them heading into Saturday's game."
Up Next:
The Dustdevils travel to Wichita, Kansas for their next matchup. TAMIU will take on Newman University for the final game of the regular season. Tip-off is set for 3pm.
