TAMIU dealt two three run losses at Texas A&M Kingsville

KINGSVILLE, Texas (April 25, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Softball team took on fellow A&M member Kingsville for a doubleheader on Tuesday. The Dustdevils fell 0-3 and 3-6, moving to 17-31 overall. 

Game 1: TAMIU 0 - TAMUK 3
The Dustdevil bats were shut down in game one, tallying just four hits over seven innings. 

The Javelinas plated runs in the first, fifth, and sixth to take the game 3-0. 

Tori Carrion took the loss despite picking up four strikeouts in six innings of work. 

Amanda Hinajosa, Krystal Perez, Taylor Vines, and Alyssa Soneff each picked up a hit for TAMIU. 

Game 2: TAMIU 3 - TAMUK 6
TAMIU was able to get in the runs column in the second, game putting up three runs. 

Kingsville jumped ahead 2-0 after plating a pair of runs in the first inning. 

Hinajosa drove in the Dustdevils first run on a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Perez from third. 

The Javelinas would add four runs in the fifth to take a 6-1 lead. 

Vines would come around to score the second run for TAMIU, cutting the lead to four in the sixth. Robi Kami drove in Vines with an RBI single to left field. 

The Dustdevils would bring the game within three runs in the seventh inning after Cassie Cannon came around to score. Alyssa singled to right field, a Javelina throwing error would allow Cannon to score. 

Sarah Sandoval got her first start in the circle, tossing six innings. Sandoval struck out three Javelinas. 

Up Next:
The Dustdevils close out regular season play this weekend at home. TAMIU will host Lubbock Christian University at the Dustdevil Softball field on Friday, April 28 and Saturday, April 29. First pitch is slated for 12pm on Friday.
