Biography

2018:
Sandoval appeared in 14 games as sophomore in 2018. She went 0 for 2 from the plate recording a walk and scoring two runs. She recorded her second career stolen base against UC-Colorado Springs on Feb. 18 in Canyon. 

2017:
Sandoval went 0-1 with a 7.45 ERA in the circle for the Dustdevils in 2017 in six appearances including two starts. She tossed 10.1 innings as she allowed 13 runs (11 earned) on 16 hits with three strikeouts. The Brownsville, Texas native went a season-high six innings against Texas A&M-Kingsville on April 25 where she scattered six hits and six runs while striking out three.

Sandoval played Volleyball all (4) years as a outside hitter and a defensive specialist, (3) years of basketball as a post, (4) years of softball as a 3rd basemen, pitcher, and center fielder, and (2) years of track and field in which she participated in the hurdels and high jump competitions. During her time with the Chargers, she earned numerous of recognitions and awards. In her freshmen year, she was named to the Basketball All-Metro First Team, and All-District Second Team. In softball, she earned All-District Honorable Mention during the 2013-2014 season. In her Sophomore year in volleyball, she was part of the Co-District and Bi-District championship team. She was named All-Metro New Comer of the Year, and earned All-District First Team, All-Valley Second Team. In basketball, she was part of the Co-District and Bi-District Championship Team. She was named All-Metro First Team, and All-District Second Team. In softball, she was named to the All-Metro First Team, All-District Honorable Mention for 2013-2014 year. During her Junior in volleyball, she was part of the Co-District, Bi-District, and Area Championship Team. She was named to the All-Metro First Team, All-District First Team, and All-Valley Second Team. In basketball, she was part of the Bi-District Championship Team. She was also named to the All-Metro First Team and All-District Second Team. In softball, She was part of the Bi-District Championship Team. She was named Team Captain, All-Metro First Team, All-District First Team for her performance at 3rd base. She was also named to the All-Valley First Team in the 2015-2016 season. During her Senior year in volleyball, she was part of the Bi-District Championship Team. She was named Team Captain, earned All-Metro First Team, All-District First Team, and All-Valley Team. In softball, she was named Team Captain, earned All-Metro Defensive Player of the Year, All-District Defensive Player of the Year, and All-Valley First Team.

Sandoval played 3rd base, 1st base, and shortstop during her time with these clubs. While with the Blaze, Sandoval and her team were East Brownsville Senior League Softball (2014) District Champions, Sectional Champions, Texas State Champions, and Southwest Region Champions. She represented Southwest at Senior League World Series in Sussex County, Delaware in (2014) finishing 4th Place.

Personal:
Born Sarah Jane Sandoval on September 29th, 1997 in Brownsville, Texas. Sarah Sandoval is the daughter of Aracelil and Ben Sandoval and is the sister of twin brothers, Benjamin (23) and Steven (23). She is majoring in kinesiology. She decided to make her way to TAMIU after her meeting with Head Coach Scott Libby and Coach Zambanini in which she felt TAMIU was the place she'd want to be at. In addition, she noticed how the softball team had qualified for the NCAA Tournament in (2011) and wants to do her part in helping the team get back to the tournament again. Sandoval's most inspirational figure is her middle school coach, Esmeralda Uribe-De La Rosa because she inspired Sandoval to believe that she could do anything she sets her hear to. Sandoval's future aspirations is to work as an Athletic Trainer and help athletes reach their full potential. Her favorite athlete is Bo Jackson who played for both the then Los Angeles Raiders as well as the Kansas City Royals. He was one of the few athletes to be named an All-Star in two major sports, and the only one to do so in baseball and football. In her spare time, Sandoval enjoys reading, watching movies, listening to music and working out.
