SAN ANTONIO, Texas (April 7, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Baseball team finished a three-game series with St. Mary's on Friday. The Dustdevils picked up a 5-4 win, taking the series 2-1. TAMIU moves to 10-21 overall (4-11 Heartland Conference).
St. Mary's struck first, plating a pair of runs to open the ballgame in the bottom of the first inning.
Alex Medina would bring the Dustdevils within a run in the fourth. Medina drove in
Abel Aguilar on a sacrifice fly.
The Rattlers would stretch their lead to 3-1 before the Dustdevils came back to tie the game in the sixth inning.
Medina would pick up his second and third RBI's of te day, sending a game-tying homerun over the left field wall. Medina's homerun drove in Aguilar.
St. Mary's used a late run in the eighth to open a 4-3 lead. TAMIU used a second longball to bring the game even before pushing the go ahead run across the plate.
Sergio Pollorena drove in the tying run in the top of the ninth, sending a solo homerun over the left field wall. Alex Cabezas would drive home
Jesse Phipps for the go ahead run on a bunt single.
Nick Perales would shut the door in the bottom of the ninth, picking up the save (2).
Eddie Rodriguez got the start on the mound. Rodriguez tossed six innings, allowing just one earned run. Rodriguez picked up four strikeouts. Three Dustdevils combined to toss the seventh and eighth.
Hugo Mendiola tossed a third of an inning, picking up his first career win.

The Dustdevils play their next game on Friday, April 14 in San Angelo, Texas. TAMIU will take on Angelo State University.
