AUSTIN, Texas (April 7, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Softball team opened play in a three-game series with St. Edward's University on Friday. The Dustdevils were dealt a 3-4 loss, moving to 13-23 overall (7-3 Heartland Conference).
The Dustdevils picked up the first run of the ballgame in the second inning.
Robi Kami pushed the first run across on an RBI single up the middle.
Erika Sanchez would follow, driving in Kami on a single down the right field line.
St. Edward's tied the game and took the lead in the bottom of the second inning. The Hilltoppers plated three runs to open a one run lead.
The Dustdevils would knot the game at three after
Cassie Cannon scored on a passed ball in the third inning.
The Hilltoppers added a fourth run in the third. The fourth run would be enough for the Hilltoppers to prevail, dealing TAMIU an series opening loss.
Delainy Thompson tossed six innings in the circle. Thompson struck out four Hilltoppers and moves to 8-10 in the 2017 campaign.

The Dustdevils close out the series on Saturday. The Hilltoppers and Dustdevils will play a Saturday doubleheader with first pitch set for 12pm.
