SAN ANTONIO, Texas (May 4, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Softball Team took on the #1 seed and host, St. Mary's in game three of the Heartland Conference Tournament on Thursday afternoon. The Dustdevils were dealt a 1-2 loss, moving to 1-1 in the tournament.
The Dustdevils would score game three's first run in the third inning.
Erika Sanchez drove home
Brenda Parnin on an RBI infield single to third base, giving TAMIU a 1-0 lead.
The Rattlers would even the game at one in the bottom of the third on an RBI double.
The teams would trade blows over the next four and two-thirds innings, playing scoreless softball.
The Rattlers would walk-off winners in the bottom of the eighth inning on an RBI single, bringing a runner home from second.
Junior
Delainy Thompson got the start in the circle, tossing seven and two thirds innings for the Dustdevils. Thompson would not record a strikeout but scatter six hits, allowing just one walk.
Brenda Parnin,
Erika Sanchez, and
Cassie Cannon would record the three Dustdevil hits.

The Dustdevils await their next opponent as they will take on the winner of game four. Game four features a matchup between #3 Oklahoma Christian and #5 Newman University. The Dustdevils will play at 2:30pm on Friday.
