#1 Seeded Rattlers deal Dustdevils 1-2 loss in extra innings

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (May 4, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Softball Team took on the #1 seed and host, St. Mary's in game three of the Heartland Conference Tournament on Thursday afternoon. The Dustdevils were dealt a 1-2 loss, moving to 1-1 in the tournament. 

The Dustdevils would score game three's first run in the third inning. Erika Sanchez drove home Brenda Parnin on an RBI infield single to third base, giving TAMIU a 1-0 lead. 

The Rattlers would even the game at one in the bottom of the third on an RBI double. 

The teams would trade blows over the next four and two-thirds innings, playing scoreless softball. 

The Rattlers would walk-off winners in the bottom of the eighth inning on an RBI single, bringing a runner home from second. 

Junior Delainy Thompson got the start in the circle, tossing seven and two thirds innings for the Dustdevils. Thompson would not record a strikeout but scatter six hits, allowing just one walk. 

Brenda Parnin, Erika Sanchez, and Cassie Cannon would record the three Dustdevil hits. 

Up Next:
The Dustdevils await their next opponent as they will take on the winner of game four. Game four features a matchup between #3 Oklahoma Christian and #5 Newman University. The Dustdevils will play at 2:30pm on Friday.
