LAREDO, Texas (September 27, 2017) – The Texas A&M International University women's soccer team will begin its five-match road trip on Thursday, Sept. 28, against Dallas Baptist at Patriot Soccer Field in Dallas. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
The Dustdevils (2-5-1, 1-4-0) look to rebound after dropping a 4-2 contest to Lubbock Christian on Saturday in which
Cio Bargallo recorded her school record fourth multi-goal match this season. After a 1-2-0 start to the 2017 season, DBU (5-2-1, 3-1-1) has four of their past five matches to move into second in the Heartland Conference standings.

A LOOK AT THE ALL-TIME SERIES
Thursday's match will be the 24
th meeting between the two schools with Dallas Baptist holding a 20-2-1 advantage. The Dustdevils are 0-10-0 all-time in matches played in Dallas with their last win of the series coming on Oct. 6, 2007.
A LOOK AT THE PATRIOTS
Michelle Lenard (130-65-13) enters her 10
th season in charge of the DBU women's soccer program where she has elevated the Patriots to one of the top programs in the south central region. In 2015, Lenard led DBU to both the regular-season and tournament titles in the Heartland Conference, as the Patriots advanced to the Elite 8 for the first time in school history. She was also named the Heartland Coach of the Year, South Central Region Coach of the Year and was honored by the NCCAA with the Frank Jewel Award.
The Patriots started the season 1-2-0 with a pair of 1-0 losses to regional powers Metro State and St. Edward's but has regained formed winning four of their last five outscoring opponents 10-2.
DBU has scored 12 goals on nine assists this season with McKenna Namken, Jayne Woodfill, Emily Niece and Ericca Everson leading the way with two goals apiece. Namken and Woodfill are tied for the team lead in points with five while Summerlyn Heller and Kaci Parks are tied for the team lead in assists (2). Parks also ranks first in shots (15) and shots on goal (6) with Brittany Eccles ranking second in both categories.
Hope Koym has made 30 starts in goal for the Patriots during her two-year career where she has 142 saves and compiled a record of 17-6-6. She had 11 shutouts as a freshman in 2016 where she earned Hero Sports 2
nd Team All-American honors while also being named 2
nd team all-conference. In 2017, she ranks third in the conference in goals against average (.603) and saves (24) playing behind a defense that has only allowed five goals.
BARGALLO RANKS SECOND IN DIVISION II IN TOTAL GOALS
Bargallo ranks second in the nation in total goals, total points and goals per game while ranking sixth in points per game. The Blanes, Spain product has scored 11 goals so far in 2017 just one short of Assumption's Kallie Villemaire.
BARGALLO NAMED CONFERENCE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Bargallo was named the Heartland Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season on Tuesday afternoon. She joins Chelsea Knaack as the only two Dustdevils in program history to have earned the honor twice in the same season.
Bargallo scored four goals on 13 shots, seven of those on-target, as the Dustdevils went 1-1-0 over the weekend at Dustdevil Soccer Field. She registered her second game-winning goal of her career against OC scoring in the 92
nd minute lifting TAMIU to their first conference win of the season. She added another two goals in TAMIU's 4-2 defeat to Lubbock Christian on Saturday.
RECORD WATCH
After breaking the school record for most multi-goal matches in a season on Saturday against LCU, Bargallo has her sights sets on breaking a few more records on Thursday. The sophomore needs just four shots to break Sol Medina's (2010-12, 14) career shots record while two more goals would break Erika Alcaraz's single season goal record of 12 and points record of 25 both set back in 2002.
Sophomore
Monica Castro's four assist in 2017 are the eighth most in a single season with her seven career assists ranking fifth all-time. With three more assists, the sophomore would become the fourth player in program history to record 10 or more assists in a career.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN
The Dustdevils will hit the road for their next five matches before finishing the regular season with four matches at the friendly confines of Dustdevil Soccer Field. It will be the longest stretch of away matches for TAMIU since six straight in the middle of the 2015 season. The Dustdevils have lost 14 straight matches on the road since defeating #22 St. Edward's on Nov. 29, 2015.
HEARTLAND IN THE RANKINGS
St. Edward's continued its rise in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Women's National Poll moving up two spots to fourth in the latest rankings released on Tuesday afternoon. The Hilltoppers also moved up to fifth in the Massey Ratings while DBU fell five spots to 30
th.

The Dustdevils will play against No. 4 St. Edward's on Saturday, Sept. 30, in Austin. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. It will be TAMIU's first match against a top-five opponent since a 2-4 loss to #3 SEU on Oct. 6, 2012 in Laredo.
