WICHITA, Kan. - Texas A&M International (3-11, 2-10 HC) fell to Newman (11-2-3, 7-2-3 HC) in a 1-0 decision on Saturday.
"This was a tough loss, considering the team's effort to control NU's offensive stacks," said Head Coach Felipe Arias. "We deserved a better result. We didn't have the clarity to finish the opportunities we created."
In the first half, both teams had multiple opportunities to get on the board, but neither could capitalize on those chances. TAMIU's best shot came in the 29th minute as Valeria Macias had her shot saved by the Jets keeper.
Newman finally broke through in the 59th minute in the second half as Grace Linton headed in the first goal of the game off a pass from Emma Stewart for a 1-0 lead.
The Dustdevils tried to even thing up and force overtime in the 82nd minute as Vanessa Ruiz tried to fire in a shot but had it saved by the NU keeper.
TAMIU will end the the regular season road slate on Thursday, Oct. 25 as they travel to San Antonio, Texas to face off against St. Mary's.
