Dustdevils Down St. Mary’s In Overtime Thriller

SAN ANTONIO -  Texas A&M International (4-11, 3-10 HC) took down rival St. Mary's (6-8-2, 4-8-1 HC) in the regular season road finale on Thursday.

"This was a phenomenal effort from the whole team today," Head Coach Felipe Arias said. "In spite of being down in the score twice, we showed character to come back and finish on top at the end!"

The Rattlers got things going early as they capitalized on a penalty kick in the 11th minute to take a 1-0 lead. However, Porscha Miseles-Huff answered with the equalizer in the 26th minute on a corner flicked back post header with an assist from Valeria Macias, tying things 1-1.

In the second half, St. Mary's once again dashed out in front as Victoria Villasenor fired a shot in from 12 yards out on a cross from Morgan Cave to go up 2-1 in the 58th minute. It wasn't until late in the period that Cio Bargallo would come in the clutch firing a free kick in from 23 yards out to force overtime at 2-2 in the 84th minute.

The Dustdevils wasted no time in OT as Vanessa Ruiz ended things quickly in the 93rd minute from 15 yards out, securing the victory 3-2.

TAMIU will return home for the regular season finale on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 1 p.m. as they face off against Dallas Baptist on Senior Day.
