AUSTIN, Texas (February 28, 2018) – The Texas A&M International University Baseball team used a pair of wins over Huston Tillotson on Wednesday to push their 2018 record to 5-5. The Dustdevils won both games 5-1.
 
GAME 1: TAMIU 5 – HTU 1
Hugo Mendiola got the nod in game one, tossing six and a third innings, picking up his second win of the season. Mendiola struck out a season-high eight batters in the win, scattering four hits. The Dustdevils picked up 11 hits enroute to their fifth victory of the season.
 
HIGHLIGHTS:
Mendiola shuts em' Down: Mendiola picked up a win his second straight appearance, moving to 2-0 this season. While one run crossed the plate, Mendiola posts an ERA of 0.96 this season.
 
Four pick up a pair: Kobrey Garcia, 
Daniel Espinosa, 
Mathew Trevino, and 
Abel Aguilar each picked up a pair of hits on Wednesday. Trevino and Garcia each knocked in a run.
 
Butler in relief: Coleman Butler relieved Mendiola in the seventh, tossing a hitless, scoreless two thirds of an inning.
 
GAME 2: TAMIU 5 – HTU 1
Eric Cleveland made his second start in game two, picking up his first win of 2018. Cleveland tossed five and a third innings on the mound. Cleveland struck out six and kept the Rams from crossing the plate. Three Dustdevils would drive in a run for the second win of the day.
HIGHLIGHTS: 
In the groove: Cleveland has now tossed 8.1 innings on the season, allowing just one run to cross the plate. Wednesday's outing marks the longest outing of Cleveland's career and a new season-high for strikeouts.
 
Four hits, no problem: The Dustdevils only tallied four hits in the second game but found a way to cross the plate five times. 
Jesse Phipps was credited an RBI after a bases loaded walk before two Dustdevils scored on a wild pitch.
 
Come on home now: Three Dustdevils returned to their hometown region on Wednesday. Cabezas, and Austin native picked up two hits, two runs, and two RBI for the day. Cleveland returned to Austin to put on his best performance of the season to this point and 
Justin Diaz made his return, tossing an inning and a third, allowing just two hits.
 
Trevino Stays hot: Mathew Trevino sustained a hot start at the plate on Wednesday. The sophomore is now batting .444 on the season.
