Bargallo’s Hat Trick Leads Dustdevils to 4-0 Shutout

OKLAHOMA CITY - Junior Cio Bargallo led Texas A&M International (2-5, 1-4 HC) to a 4-0 shutout over Oklahoma Christian (0-8, 0-5 HC) with a three-goal performance on Thursday. With the hat trick, the Blanes, Spain native tied the school record for most goals in a single game.

"This was a phenomenal game from Cio, who tied the school scoring record," Head Coach Felipe Arias said. "We appreciate her hard work tonight, as well as the entire team, for this conference victory over OCU."

Bargallo got to work quickly as the she chipped a ball over the keeper from 25 yards out for the game's first goal just 32 seconds into the match. She would strike again in the 17th minute as she juked the goalie 16 yards out and dribbled it in with an assist from Lincy Villatoro to go up 2-0 early.

In the second half, Bargallo completed the hat trick five minutes into the period as she blasted a ball from 18 yards out into an open goal.

In the 68th minute, Valeria Macias would shoot a penalty kick and have it saved by the OCU keeper, but scored off the rebound of the save to put the game out of reach at 4-0.

Elena Rivera earned the win between the pipes and a clean sheet for TAMIU with one save on one shot on goal.

The Dustdevils will close out the road trip on Saturday, Sept. 29 in Lubbock, Texas as they face off against Heartland Conference foe Lubbock Christian.
