CANYON, Texas – No. 16 Texas A&M International University men's soccer (7-1-1, 2-1-0 LSC) claimed a 1-0 road victory over Lone Star Conference foe, No. 22 West Texas A&M (4-2-1, 1-1-1 LSC). The win marks the second consecutive 1-0 road victory over the Buffs since they faced off in the 2017 campaign.
In the ninth minute of play, Cem Izgec fired the first shot of the match. Izgec's shot got by Buffs goalkeeper Alexander Vencel to give the Dustdevils a 1-0 edge.Â
TAMIU goalkeeper Josh Jones made his first save of the match in the 10th minute of play on a shot by Kenny Brown.Â
In the 28th minute, Ruben Nielsen took a shot that was rejected by Vencel.
TAMIU's Steve Taylor took a shot directed towards the bottom left side that was saved by Vencel to send a 1-0 match into intermission.
The second half was a defensive stalemate as both Jones and Vencel did not forfeit a goal.Â
In the 50th minute, Izgec tried to pick up his second goal of the match but Vencel came up with a big save to continue the 1-0 matchup.Â
With 77:50 showing on the game clock, Jones recorded the final save of the match on a shot by Ramdin to secure the 1-0 shutout victory.Â
The Buffs held the advantage in shots (10-9) and corner kicks (6-2) while the Dustdevils led the way in shots on goal (5-4). Â

The Dustdevils continue their six-game road trip on Saturday, Oct. 12 against Eastern New Mexico (7-2-1, 0-2-1 LSC) in Portales, N.M.
