LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International University head men's soccer coach Claudio Arias and head women's soccer coach Felipe Arias announced Monday the addition of assistant men's and women's soccer coach Ladulé Lako LoSarah ahead of the 2019 season.
"We are glad to have Ladulé join our coaching staff," said Claudio. "He brings playing and coaching experience and has a strong coaching education background which will help us with player development and other areas in our programs."
LoSarah stated, "I want to thank Claudio [Arias], Felipe [Arias] and the Department of Athletics for the opportunity. I look forward to contributing to the success of the soccer program on and off the field."
Coach LoSarah joins TAMIU after he was the assistant coach of the men's soccer team at Illinois Wesleyan University (NCAA Division III) for two seasons (2017-18). In his first year, he led the Titans to a record of 11-6-1 and tied a school record of six wins over conference opponents (6-2). The Titans were a No. 2 seed in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) tournament, which is the highest seed in program history. LoSarah also helped the attacking unit score a record-tying 42 goals and coached four All-Conference selections and a United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III All-Region Team honoree.
In the 2018 campaign, he helped the Titans post a second-consecutive 11-win season (11-5) and helped two players garner All-Conference honors while one player was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region Team.
While he coached the Titans, LoSarah was also the head coach of F.C. Diablos Men's U-23 team (2017-19) and the co-head coach of the Illinois Fire Juniors (2018-19) the official youth soccer club of the Major League Soccer (MLS) club, Chicago Fire. As a coach of the two teams, he made a positive impact on the Central Illinois community through the development of soccer programming and initiatives.
Prior to coaching for Illinois Wesleyan, he served as a volunteer assistant men's soccer coach at Pomona College during the 2017 spring season. Prior to that, he served as the head coach of the boys U-17 academy team at F.C. International Leipzig in Germany (2014-16), where he achieved promotion twice with the team and won a league championship.
LoSarah played soccer at the professional level, including stops at FK Bregalnica Stip (1st Division/Macedonia), San Diego Flash (National Premier Soccer League/USA), Central F.C. (1st Division/Trinidad and Tobago), Maziya S&RC (1st Division/Maldives), Rayong United F.C. (2nd Division/Thailand). LoSarah also made a trio of appearances as a member of the South Sudan national team in the African Cup of Nations and World Cup qualification matches, as well as the East African CECAFA (Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations) Cup.
Throughout his four seasons as a forward at Swarthmore College (2005-09) he garnered various accolades. In 2008, LoSarah helped the Garnet set a school record of 17 wins in a season while winning the Centennial Conference title and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division III men's soccer tournament. In 2007, LoSarah was an All-Conference selection and was chosen to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team. In 2006, LoSarah was an Academic All-Conference selection. He finished his playing career tied for the ninth most in assists (12) in Swarthmore College history.
LoSarah, a product of Davis, Calif., graduated from Swarthmore College with a bachelor's degree in environmental science before receiving his master's degree in biomechanics from Illinois State University. He also earned a UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) B coaching license and is in the process of completing a USSF (United States Soccer Federation) coaching license.
