KINGSVILLE, Texas – Texas A&M International volleyball squared off against Texas A&M-Kingsville in Lone Star Conference play, with the Javelinas (8-0, 3-0 LSC) topping the Dustdevils (1-9, 1-2 LSC) 3-0.
 
The Dustdevils fell behind quickly in set one, falling 25-11 and then fell in set two 25-17.
 
In set three, TAMIU jumped ahead 16-11, before the Texas A&M-Kingsville went on a 6-1 run to tie the set 17-17. The Dustdevils jumped ahead by two at three other points after, but the Javelinas would tie the game. Ultimately the teams alternated points until the set was taken by Texas A&M-Kingsville.
 
Sophomore Yaretzi Ortiz led TAMIU with 11 kills on 31 attacks, while senior Mackenzie Catalina followed with 10 kills on 37 attacks.
 
Freshman Isabella Martinez led the team with 18 assists, senior Deserey Gomez led the team with 13 digs.
 
TAMIU continues its LSC road-trip, taking on Lubbock Christian, Friday Oct. 1 at 6 p.m, in Lubbock, Texas.
