TAMIU Softball Releases 2022 Schedule

LAREDO, Texas – After a strong 2021 season, reaching the semifinals of the Lone Star Conference tournament, Texas A&M International University head softball coach Scott Libby announced the schedule for the 2022 season.

The Dustdevils will open the season at the Arkansas Tech Winter Invitational in Conroe, Texas from Feb. 3-5. National semifinalist Augustana (S.D.) is TAMIU's first test of the season on Feb. 3, followed by Central Oklahoma. On Feb. 4, the Dustdevils face Rogers State and Southern Arkansas, then close the tournament on Feb. 5 against Southeastern Oklahoma State and host Arkansas Tech.

TAMIU the heads to Portland, Texas, Feb. 11-13 for the Texas A&M-Kingsville Tournament. On Feb. 11, the Dustdevils will play both Ouachita Baptist and Hillsdale. Another doubleheader follows on Feb. 12 with matchups against Henderson State and a rematch against Hillsdale. TAMIU concludes the tournament on Feb. 13 with an early season, non-conference matchup against fellow Lone Star Conference member St. Mary's.

The Dustdevils conclude non-conference tournament play in the Angelo State University George & Ola McCorkle Challenge in San Angelo, Texas from Feb. 18-20. TAMIU opens the tournament on Feb. 18 against New Mexico Highlands and then a rematch against Henderson State. On Feb. 19, the Dustdevils meet Henderson State for the second time of the tournament and third time overall, then rematch New Mexico Highlands. TAMIU closes the tournament against LSC member Angelo State on Feb. 20.

The Dustdevils then travel to Texas A&M-Kingsville for a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 26. 

TAMIU sticks on the road to open conference play, beginning with St. Mary's on Friday, Mar. 4 in doubleheader action. The Dustdevils stay in San Antonio, Texas for a single non-conference game against the Rattlers on Mar. 5 and then travel to Austin, Texas for a conference doubleheader against St. Edward's on Mar. 6.

The Dustdevils finally get to play on their own field on Fri, Mar. 11 when they host Oklahoma Christian for a doubleheader and close the brief home stretch against Cameron on Sun, Mar. 13 in doubleheader play.

TAMIU returns to the road for a pair of doubleheaders on Mar. 18 and Mar. 20, beginning with defending NCAA Division II Softball National Champions West Texas A&M and then Eastern New Mexico.

Western New Mexico then comes to TAMIU on Mar. 25 for the conference doubleheader, followed by a non-conference matchup on Mar. 26. UT Permian Basin then enters Laredo for a Mar. 27 twin bill.

Apr. 1 and Apr. 3 see the Dustdevils take the road to Texas A&M-Commerce and UT Tyler for a set of doubleheaders, before returning home to face Angelo State for two games on Apr. 8 and a non-conference game on Apr. 9, before rounding out the five game home stand against Lubbock Christian on Apr. 10.

The final road trip of the season sees TAMIU head to Denton, Texas for a doubleheader on Apr. 22, followed by Midwestern State on Apr. 24.

The Dustdevils conclude the regular season with Senior Day as they face Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday, Apr. 30.

The Lone Star Conference Tournament is scheduled to run May 5-7. The site will be hosted by the top overall seed based on the final LSC Softball standings.
