DALLAS, Texas – TAMIU men's and women's cross country both competed in their final regular season meet at the DBU Invitational.
For the women, who placed seventh as a team in the 16 team field, senior Beverlyne Kipchumba paced the Dustdevils with a time of 18:58.3 in the 5K, placing 28th in the 161 runner field.
Graduate Claudette Soto wasn't far behind, placing 32nd with a time of 19:03.0. Senior Faith Kiprotichraced to a 53rd place finish with a time of 19:44.3, while Victorine Kiprop placed 60th at 19:58.8.
Freshman Destiny Villarreal placed 65th with a time of 20:06.9, while sophomore Rose Iminza (87th- 20:44.8) and freshman Itzel Soto (129th- 23:15.4) rounded out the field.
In the men's 8K race as a team TAMIU finished in fourth place out of 15 teams.
Freshman Josphat Langat led the charge for the Dustdevils, placing 20th out of 155 runners with a time of 25:35.2.
Sophomore Malvon Boen followed with a 30th place finish and a time of 26:01.7, while fellow sophomore Evans Ngetich was right behind in 32nd with a time of 26:13.0.
Colfin Kipsiwa went on to place 49th at 26:43.3, while sophomore Gilbert Garcia was 68th and a time of 27:25.8.
Junior Daniel Villarreal (111th, 29:33.1), senior Ruben Martinez (122th, 30:06.8) and freshman Ethan Chavez (140th, 32:35.7) rounded out the order.
TAMIU next races in the Lone Star Conference Championship on Saturday, Nov. 5 being hosted by Midwestern State in Wichita Falls, Texas.
