LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International volleyball closed the 2022 home schedule with a 3-1 win over St. Edward's.
The Hilltoppers (9-18, 6-10 LSC) were the early aggressors, taking the opening set 25-23.
In set two, the Dustdevils (21-6, 12-2 LSC) won by a final of 25-21. The score was balanced throughout as the largest lead of the set by TAMIU was five.
Set three was more wide margined, with the Dustdevils winning 25-19. The score was even early, but TAMIU pulled away with a 7-2 run midway to open up the lead.
The Dustdevils fell behind in the fourth set 9-4, but TAMIU struck with a 9-0 run that completed at 13-2. That run was enough for the Dustdevils to push through for a 25-17 victory.
Senior Megan Menchaca led the charge with 15 kills offensively.
Sophomore Giulia Hortelan finished with a double-double, having 14 kills and 29 digs. Following just behind with 26 digs was freshman Emma Lade, who also added 43
TAMIU closes the 2022 regular season on the road, beginning with Cameron on Friday, Nov. 4. Opening serve from Lawton, Okla. is set for 5:30 p.m.
