RICHARDSON, Texas – Texas A&M International women's soccer earned an 11th place selection in the 2022 Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll, announced by the conference on Wednesday. Voting is done by LSC head coaches, sports information directors and media representatives from throughout the conference.
In TAMIU's 11th place selection, the Dustdevils earned a total of 117 points.
DBU earned the top placement, as the defending regular season champions and semifinalist in the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Tournament earned 434 points and 24 of the 35 first-place votes.
Angelo State followed in second with 388 points and 10 first-place votes, while defending LSC Tournament Champion West Texas A&M place third, earning the final first-place vote and 368 points.
Midwestern State (363) and Texas Woman's (323) rounded out the top five in the poll.
Places six through 10 include St. Mary's (274), St. Edward's (251), Lubbock Christian (212), UT Tyler (171) and Oklahoma Christian (163).
Following TAMIU in spots 12 and 13 in the poll are UT Permian Basin (77) and Eastern New Mexico (44).
The 2022 women's soccer season begins Thursday, August 25, with 13 teams competing in a single-round robin schedule. The LSC Women's Soccer Championship will include the top seven teams based on conference points. Tournament play will open on Tuesday, November 1, with quarterfinal matches at on-campus venues. The semifinals and championship will be hosted by the No. 1 seed. Semifinal matches will be Friday, November 4, followed by the championship match on Sunday, November 6.
New to the LSC Preseason Poll is the Players to Watch list and three Dustdevils made the list.
On the Offensive Players to Watch list, junior
Krysan St. Louis was recognized, while on the defensive end, redshirt sophomore
Andrea Castellanos was mentioned. On the Goalkeepers to Watch list, junior
Fabiana Solano earned a spot.
