LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International University is pleased to announce the hiring of Victor Olivares as the Assistant Men's Soccer Coach.
Olivares was born in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua Mexico. He attended Lydia Patterson Institute In El Paso, Texas for 4 years to later received a scholarship to attend Hiwassee College in Madisonville Tennessee for his freshman and sophomore years. He graduated from West Texas A&M University in 2013 after transferring to play his junior and senior years and serving as a graduate assistant coach for one year at WTAMU.
While in college Olivares played for UPSL teams El Paso Patriots, and Midland Soccer. Also played for the NPSL team Indios USA from El Paso.
in 2013, he moved to Dallas to start a teaching career spending four years as an elementary school teacher while coaching individual sessions for local athletes.
In 2017, he moved to Toluca Mexico to work in the second-tier division of the Mexican Professional League System for Potros UAEM, as an assistant to the strength and conditioning coach.
In 2018, he moved to Houston, TX to start working for Houston Dynamo Dash Youth in the competitive level. At the same time, he was named head coach of Oak Ridge High School in Conroe, Texas.
In 2019, he started commuting to Barcelona, Spain once a month to Complete a 2-year Professional Master's in Football organized by F.C. Barcelona Methodology Department led by Francisco "Paco" Sirul-lo and Isaac Guerrero, together with the National Institute of Physical Education in Catalonia, and Catalan Football Federation. Olivares graduate with this Master's in the Summer of 2021.
In the Fall of 2021, Olivares moved to Barcelona, Spain to begin another Masters in High Performance of Teams Sports (Mastercede) from the National Institute of Physical Education in Catalonia.
At the same time, he joined and graduated from a third Marters program in High Performance in football, organized by MBP School of Coaches.
While in Spain, he served as an intern assistant coach to a third-division local team C.E. Europa.
In 2022 Olivares joined El Paso Locomotive, a USL Championship franchise in the second division of the professional tier of American Soccer. His role as Academy Director of Coaching Development and Methodology was to educate and optimize coaches daily and to create the pathway for our academy program. At the same time, he served as the head coach of Americas High School.
He is currently enrolled in the Technical Director License from the Mexican Football Federation - National Sistem of Capacitation for coaches holding an "A" coaching license from FIFA-CONCACAF. Also, currently hold a USSF ''C" License from the United States Soccer Federation/FIFA.
Olivares is the son of Heriberto Olivares and Irene Garcia. Brother to Jair, Miguel and Gabriela Olivares Garcia.
