LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International women's volleyball bounced back from a four-match losing streak to win its home opener against Western New Mexico on Friday night in a three-set sweep (25-17, 25-13, 25-11).
The Dustdevils (8-5, 1-1 LSC) finished with 47 kills as a team compared to just 21 for the Mustangs (4-10, 0-2 LSC).
Hannah Thompson and
Mia Molina led TAMIU with 11 kills each and
Asher Vallone dished out 10.
Jasmin Garcia and
Rebecca Pena served two aces each.
Emma Lade dished out 36 assists and
Giulia Hortelan led the team in digs with 12.
As a team, TAMIU finished with a .336 hitting percentage and held Western New Mexico to just .078.
The Dustdevils will look to make it two in a row when they take on Oklahoma Christian at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 27 at home.
