Zarazua had a successful sophomore campaign where she recorded three Top-40 performances including a 35
th place finish at the Heartland Conference Championships covering the 6,000-meter course in 24:19.6. She finished fifth at the Islander Splash running 20:39.3 over 5,000-meters to lead the Dustdevils to the team title. She finished 28
th at the 7
th Annual Roadrunner Invitational hosted by Metro State in Denver, Colo. Running 25:40.2 over 6,000m. She recorded an 83
rd place finish at the Rice Invitational running 17:03.6 over 4,163-meters.
2015:
At the Southwest Texas Meet Zarazua finished second for the Dustdevils, with a time of 20:29.
High School: La Grulla High School (Class of 2015)
Zarazua lettered in (3) sports in High School. Mireya lettered in croos-country, soccer, and track for (4) years. She was named Cross-Country Captain for (2) years, Most Improved Freshman, Most Valuable Runner (3) times, and All-District (1) year. Zarazua made the Regional Qualifier for (3) years and the State Qualifier in her Senior season. She was the Soccer Captain for (3) years. She was named MVP in (3) seasons and was named to the All-District team. Mireya also made the Regional Qualifier for Track & Field in the 3200m, 1600m, and 4x1600m relay.
Personal:
Mireya is the daughter of Sara and Rogelio. She is a sister to Bianca, Maria, and Rogelio. Zarazua chose TAMIU because it allowed her to stay close to her family while continuing her education. Her role model is her Mom. After TAMIU Mireya wants to get a Masters Degree is Engineering, get a good job, and establish a comfortable lifestyle. In her free time Mireya enjoys reading, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends.
