Dustdevil Starters Slice Through RSU

TAMIU edges Rogers State in edgy game

Box Score LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International provided a pounding in the paint on Thursday night against the visiting Rogers State Hillcats at the TAMIU Kinesiology and Convocation Building. The Dustdevils scored 44 points in the post en route to an electrifying 75-72 victory.

The Dustdevils opened their Heartland Conference season with an eighth consecutive win. TAMIU's starters led the way, combining to score 59 of the team's points.

Senior forward Jordan Clark rattled the rim for a team-high 19 points to compliment his six boards, two assists and one steal. Fellow big men Vadal Faniel and Damal Donaldson scored 11 points each, while Matthew Culliver Jr. scored 10 and Johnel Gray scored eight.

Coming off the bench, Kevin Jefferson Jr. scored seven, Deonnte Breedlove had four, Matthew Pritchett scored three and Curtis Trotter scored two.

Faniel, a former Heartland Player of the Week, pulled in three rebounds, and Donaldson muscled his way to an assists, a block and a steal. Culliver, the team's captain, distributed a game-high six assists.

The Dustdevils will return to action on Dec. 21 as the hosts against the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith at 3 p.m. The Heartland rivals' women's teams will play at 1 p.m. at the TAMIU KCB.
