KINGSVILLE, Texas (November 22, 2016) - The Texas A&M International University Men's Basketball team played their final game before the Thanksgiving holiday on Tuesday. The Dustdevils traveled to Texas A&M Kingsville where they were dealt a 56-65 loss. TAMIU moves to 5-4 on the season.
Newcomer
Dan Milota picked up his best game as a Dustdevil on Tuesday Night. Milota led all first half scorers with 11 points, adding two assists, a rebound, and one steal.
The Dustdevils and Javelinas played another tight first half in the second matchup of the 2016-17 season. After 20 minutes of play, the two teams played to a 34-34 tie.
Arthur Santanna and Milota combined for 20 of TAMIU's 34 points while
Kenny Hatch picked up five rebounds.
The Javelinas would use a 10-0 run over 6:30 to start the second half, opening a 44-34 lead. The Dustdevils were able to tie the game at 49 with 6:35 remaining but TAMUK pushed the lead back to nine before the final buzzer sounded. Santanna led the Dustdevils with five points in the final 20 minutes. Milota and Hatch would add four points each.
Head Coach
Bryan Weakley commented after the game, "We have to watch film and get back to the drawing board tomorrow. We have to find more offensive production out of our system."
The Dustdevils play their next game at home on December 3. TAMIU hosts Huston-Tillotson in the TAMIU KCB at 3pm CST.
