LUBBOCK, Texas (April 15, 2016) – The Texas A&M International University Baseball team continued its push for the final spot in the Heartland Conference tournament on Friday. The Dustdevils took on #10 Lubbock Christian, falling 4-12 in game one.
Game 1: TAMIU 4, LCU 12William Mora put TAMIU up early, launching a solo homerun in the first. Alex Cabezas brought home the second run, driving in
Alex Medina on an RBI single. The Chaps used a two-run homerun to bring things even in the second. Medina returned the favor in the third, driving in
Cody Perez on an RBI single of his own. TAMIU would push the lead to two in the fourth.
Mario Ramirez lined an RBI double to left center, scoring Cabezas. LCU took the lead with two runs in the fifth and tallied seven runs in the sixth, winning the ballgame.
Osvaldo Raya went 5.2 innings, taking the game one loss.
Game 2: TAMIU 3, LCU 9TAMIU used a two-run third inning to open up a lead in game two.
Abel Aguilar brought in Cabezas on a sacrifice fly for the first run. Mora drove in the second run on an infield single. LCU took the lead in the fifth, pushing three runs across the plate. Back to back doubles from Mora and
Sergio Pollorena allowed the Dustdevils to bring the game even in the sixth. The Chaps would score the final six runs of the game, leading to the final score of 3-9.
The Dustdevils are back in action Saturday to close out the three game set. First pitch is set for 1 pm CST.
