LAREDO, Texas (September 24, 2016) - The Texas A&M International University Men's Soccer team concluded a home stand with a 4-0 win over Eastern New Mexico on Saturday. The Dustdevils move to 3-4-0 overall (2-2 HC).
After 30 scoreless minutes of play,
Yair Hernandez buried a 15 yard shot for the first goal of the game.
Tayeb Ahmadi played a ball to the Hernandez allowing the Dustdevils to take a 1-0 advantage into halftime.
Ryan Hodgson put TAMIU up 2-0 in the 47th minute with a header of the foot of
Javier Soto. Hodgson's goal was his fifth of the 2016 season. Hodgson's five goals leads the Heartland Conference.
The Dustdevils would take a 3-0 advantage in the 72nd minute on a
Rafael Montabes goal.
Alan Rivera played the ball back to Montabes who buried the shot for his second goal of the season.
With 18 seconds left on the clock,
Eduardo Gonzalez took advatage of a breakway, scoring his fourth goal of the season. Gonzalez battled a Greyhound defender through the box, pushing the ball past the goalie, pushing the lead to four.
Roberto Molina played all 90 minutes in net, picking up his first shutout as a Dustdevil.
TAMIU dominated play throughout, recording 32 shots, 13 on goal. The Dustdevil defense proved strong, holding the Greyhounds to three shots, one on goal.

Claudio Arias commented after the game, "Before the game we talked about reducing the number of forced mistakes and finishing our opportunities. We did that and I congratulate our players for staying on course."
The Dustdevils head to Wichita Falls, Texas for their next game. TAMIU will take on Midwestern State on Thursday, September 29. The game is set to begin at 7 pm CST.
