2017:
Started in the first two matches of the season recording the assist in the Dustdevils 1-0 season opening win over UC-Colorado Springs. He registered three shots in 200 minutes before suffering a season-ending injury. 

2016: 
Hernandez made an immediate impact as he started in all 17 matches playing a team-high 1,484 minutes for the Dustdevils after joining the program as a transfer from Laredo Community College in 2016. He finished the season with three points (one goal, one assist) with 13 shots seven of those being on-target for a .538 shot on goal percentage. He scored his first career goal in a 4-0 victory over Eastern New Mexico on Sept. 24. His lone assist of the season came in a 4-1 victory over Dallas Baptist on Sept. 17.

Transfer: Laredo Community College
Hernandez played soccer for (2) years for the Palominos prior to making his cross town trip to join the Dustdevils. While at LCC, he achieved the Dean's List in (2015).

High School: Preparatoria 16. UANL (Class of 2010)
Hernandez played (2) years for UANL in soccer as part of the defensive unit and was named Team Captain.

Club Soccer: Excelsior - San Luis - Laredo Heat SC
Hernanderz was named (2014) MVP and (2015) Team Captain for the Laredo Heat SC.

Personal: Yair Hernandez is the son of Maria Luisa Molina and Jose Hernandez and is joined by his siblings Abraham and Luisa. Hernandez chose TAMIU because it was a university that excelled in both academics and athletics. His most inspirational figure is his father. His future aspirations is to graduate from TAMIU and win a national championship with the Dustdevils soccer team. His favorite athlete is Rafael Marquez, a Mexican soccer player who captians both Mexican club Atlas and the Mexican National Team. In his spare time, Hernandez enjoys playing FIFA.
