LAREDO, Texas (January 6, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Men's Basketball team continues a three-game road trip that spans two weeks on Saturday afternoon. The Dustdevils will take on St. Edward's on Saturday at 3:00pm CST.
Last Contest:
The Dustdevils (10-5 Overall/4-1 Heartland Conference) took sole possession of the Heartland Conference lead with a 75-70 win over Oklahoma Christian on Thursday night. Jordan VanDeKop finished the night with 19 points and four rebounds.
Arthur Santanna added 15 points, three assists, and three steals. Bunja Yaboe and
Kenny Hatch each finished with double-digit point totals, scoring 12 and 11 respectively.
The Competition:
The Hilltoppers (11-6 Overall/3-1 Heartland Conference) defeated St. Mary's 76-54 on Thursday.
James Taylor led the Hilltoppers with 16 points. John Gramlich added 12 points and six assists. Sean Watkins and Ramir Burton scored 10 each.
Heartland Conference:
The Heartland Conference Men's Basketball race is tight again in the 2016-17 season. TAMIU currently hols the first spot with a 4-1 record. St. Edward's and Newman both head into Saturday with 3-1 records, tied for second place. Arkansas Fort Smith sits fourth with a record of 3-2. 10 teams are in action on Saturday, the full schedule is listed below:

History:
The Dustdevils and Hilltoppers split their matchups in the 2015-16 season with each team winning away from home. TAMIU defeated SEU in Austin 61-60, while the Hilltoppers defeated TAMIU in Laredo 72-64. SEU and TAMIU met in the 2016 Heartland Conference Tournament where SEU dealt TAMIU a 84-69 loss. The teams have matched up 18 times with an all-time series split at 9-9.
