SAN ANGELO, Texas (February 12, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Softball team concluded play in the ASU George McCorkel Classic on Sunday. TAMIU took a 0-4 loss to Emporia State before falling to host, Angelo State 0-13. The Dustdevils move to 4-8 overall.
Game 1: TAMIU 0 - Emporia State 4
Despite putting up five hits, the Dustdevils were unable to crack the runs column in game one. Emporia took a second inning lead with a run in the bottom of the inning. The game would remain tight through the sixth when Emporia added three runs in the bottom of the sixth, putting TAMIU behind 0-4.
Delainy Thompson took the loss in the circle while
Erika Sanchez picked up two hits in the loss.
Game 2: TAMIU 0 - Angelo State 13
TAMIU would put up five hits in game two with the same fate offensively. Despite the five hits, the Dustdevils were unable to plate a run for the second straight game. Angelo State opened a 6-0 lead in the second, plating six runs on five hits. The Rambelles added three runs in the third and four in the fourth, putting TAMIU behind 0-13.
Brandi Giles tossed two innings in the circle before
Sara Caterson relieved her in the third. Sara Sandoval put in a third of an inning of work in the circle. Giles added a team-high two hits in the loss.
Up Next:
TAMIU is off through Monday, February 20. The Dustdevils open the home portion of the 2016-17 season against Tarleton State at 12pm.
