DALLAS, Texas (February 4, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Men's Basketball team took on Dallas Baptist University on Saturday. The Dustdevils were dealt a 61-76 loss, moving to 14-9 overall (8-5 Heartland Conference).
First Half:
TAMIU jumped out to an early 9-2 lead in the first three minutes of action on Saturday. DBU would come back to take an advantage with 13 minutes left in the half before the teams traded leads for eight minutes. Dallas Baptist would come back to push their lead to nine with just over a minute remaining. After 20 minutes of action, DBU led 30-23.
Jordan VanDeKop led the Dustdevils with nine first half points.
Second Half:
The Dustdevil offense came alive in the final 20 minutes of action, putting up 38 second half points. The Patriots would match the offensive surge, putting up 46 in the second half. TAMIU came back to knot the game at 34 five minutes into the second half of play before DBU was able to stretch their lead to 19 with 2:57 remaining. TAMIU would cut into the lead before the final buzzer, falling 61-76.
VanDeKop finished the afternoon with 19 points, adding six rebounds.

Bryan Weakley commented after the game, "We played a lot harder than we did against Lubbock on Thursday. We are looking forward to playing the next four games at home."
