Bats go silent in doubleheader loss at Tarleton

STEPHENVILLE, Texas (March 13, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Softball team took on Tarleton State in a doubleheader on Monday. TAMIU was dealt a 0-8 loss in game one and a 1-7 loss in game two. The Dustdevils move to 7-14 overall (2-1 Heartland Conference). 

Game 1: TAMIU 0 - TSU 8
Playing their fourth game in three days, the Dustdevils managed just four hits in a 0-8 loss to Tarleton in game one. Tarelton used a first inning run to take a 1-0 lead early in the ballgame. 

The Texann's would use four runs in the fourth to open a 5-0 lead, before plating two more runs in the fifth, to go ahead 7-0. 

Tarleton would add an eighth run in the sixth, ending the game ahead 8-0. 

Cassie Cannon picked up two hits in three at bats, leading the Dustdevils at the plate. Robi Kami and Amanda Hinojosa each picked up a hit in the loss. 

Tori Carrion took the loss in the circle, tossing three and a third innings. Sarah Sandoval tossed the final inning and a third. 

Game 2: TAMIU 1 - TSU 7
The Dustdevils fell behind early in game two. Tarleton plated a run in the first inning, followed by a four-run second inning. The Texann's would add two more runs in the third, taking a 7-0 lead through three innings of play. 

TAMIU plated their first run of the day in the sixth inning of game two. 

Jenelle Rodriguez came around to score the lone Dustdevil run after Alyssa Acuna grounded out to short. 

TAMIU picked up three hits in the loss, with Acuna's RBI being the scoring play for TAMIU. 

Sara Caterson tossed six innings in the circle, taking the loss. Caterson moves to 2-3 for the season after striking out six batters in the loss. 

Up Next:
The Dustdevils continue play on the road on Wednesday, March 15. TAMIU will take on Central Oklahoma in a doubleheader. First pitch from Edmond, Oklahoma is set for 2pm.
