EDMOND, Oklahoma (March 15, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Softball team took on nationally ranked #9 Central Oklahoma on Wednesday. TAMIU was dealt a 0-8 loss in game one, falling 2-4 in the second game. The Dustdevils move to 7-16 overall (2-1 Heartland Conference).
Game 1: TAMIU 0 - UCO 8
An early deficit proved to be too much for the Dustdevils. The Bronchos plated eight runs in the first inning, opening an early 8-0 lead.
Despite putting up four hits, the Dustdevils were unable to plate a run in the ballgame.
Tori Carrion got the start in the circle, tossing four innings. Carrion picked up one strikeout in the loss, moving to 0-2.
Game 2: TAMIU 2 - UCO 4
The Bronchos would strike first again in game two. UCO plated four first inning runs behind a pair of homeruns.
The Dustdevils would trail 0-4 through five complete innings before picking up a pair of runs in the sixth.
Brena Parnin put TAMIU on the board with an RBI single, scoring
Morgan Kornegay.
Robi Kami would follow with a single through the left side, scoring
Cassie Cannon. The two-run sixth inning would cut the UCO lead to just two runs.
TAMIU was unable to plate another run despite holding the Bronchos scoreless through the final six innings.
Delainy Thompson tossed six innings in the circle. Thompson falls to 4-7 overall, picking up five strikeouts in the loss.
