CLAREMORE, Oklahoma (April 1, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Softball team concluded a three game series with Rogers State on Saturday. The Dustdevils picked up a 7-4 win, sweeping the Hillcats. TAMIU moves to 13-20 overall (7-2 Heartland Conference).
Rogers State jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, plating three runs in the bottom of the first inning.
The Dustdevils would respond with a pair of runs in the third inning.
Brandi Giles got the scoring started with an RBI single to left field, scoring
Brenda Parnin.
Robi Kami picked up an RBI after being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Through three innings, TAMIU trailed 2-3.
TAMIU would pull ahead in the fourth, picking up two fourth inning runs.
Cassie Cannon scored the tying run after a Hillcat error allowed Cannon to come around from second. A groundout off the bat of
Alyssa Acuna allowed
Taylor Vines to score the go ahead run.
Brenda Parnin would add three insurance runs in the sixth, sending a three run homerun to right center.
Samantha Edmiston and Amanda Hinojosa would score on the homerun, giving TAMIU a 7-3 lead.
The Hillcats picked up a run in the seventh, before
Delainy Thompson closed the door.
Thompson improved to 8-9 on the 2017 season after tossing seven innings, striking out six Hillcats.

The Dustdevils return home on Wednesday, March 5 for a doubleheader against Angelo State. First pitch is slated for 12pm.
