A LOOK AT THE ALL-TIME SERIES
Saturday's match between the Greyhounds and Dustdevils will be the 11th meeting between the two schools. TAMIU leads the all-time series 7-1-2 having won five of the past seven matches including a 4-0 victory in Laredo on Sept. 24, 2016.

A LOOK AT THE GREYHOUNDS
Paul Tate (15-20-7) is currently in his third season in charge of the Eastern New Mexico men's soccer team after spending time as the head man at McMurry University in Abilene. The Greyhounds are coming off a 2016 campaign where they finished sixth in the Heartland conference making an appearance in the conference tournament falling 5-0 to West Texas A&M in the quarterfinals.

The Greyhounds are one of the most physical teams in the country ranking in the top-16 nationally in red and yellow cards. Their scoring offense ranks 110th in the nation at 1.57 goals per game while their 5.43 saves per game is good enough for 41st in Division II.

Christopher Mesquita enters the weekend as the top goal scorer for ENMU having tallied three goals on 10 shots. The freshman from Roswell, N.M. has scored in two of his last three appearances including the opening goal ENMU's 4-2 defeat to St. Mary's on Thursday.

Ignacio Dicun and Nicolai Alstrom have both scored two goals while four other 'Hounds have scored at least one. Dicun is also tied for the team-high with one assist and ranks first in shots (15) and shots on-target (8).

Junior Yuri Nascimiento had played every minute in goal for ENMU until Thursday nights match when he was pulled in the 39th minute. The transfer from Ranger College has been a fine additional to an ENMU squad that gave up 32 goals in 2016. He leads the conference in saves per game (5.14( which also ranks 39th nationally while also ranking 14th in Division II with 36 total saves.

YOU SHALL NOT PASS
Teams that did not know about Luis Diaz, Keanu Born and Carlo Herrera before the start of the season are getting a rude awakening two weeks into conference play. Diaz and Born have been near perfect as center back companions allowing two goals in five matches including three shutouts. Herrera has been just as good in goal for TAMIU as the junior has made 20 saves and ranks first in the Heartland in save percentage (.909) and shutouts per game (.600).

PERALES SHOWS PROMISE IN WIN OVER WT
At the beginning of the year during media day, Claudio Arias told the local media that Elias Perales was one player that he expected to have a breakout season for the Dustdevils. It took six matches but the Laredo native gave a glimpse into what the future might entail in a hard fought match against West Texas A&M. The 5-10 forward took advantage of a WT mistake to score the eventual game-winner in the 64th minute giving the Dustdevils their fist conference win of the season.

HEARTLAND IN THE RANKINGS
Midwestern State and St. Edward's were the only two schools from the Heartland Conference ranked in the latest United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II National Poll coming in at #8 and #17 respectively. Both schools moved up five spots in the latest Massey Ratings with the Mustangs entering the top five at No. 3 and the Hilltoppers now at 15th.
