LAREDO, Texas (September 7, 2017) –
The Texas A&M International University women's soccer team will look to return to win the column when they take on Eastern New Mexico on Friday, Sept. 8, in a neutral site match in San Antonio. The match is set for a 5:00 p.m. kickoff at Sigma Bet Chi Field at St. Mary's. A link for live stats can be found at GoDustdevils.com under the women's soccer schedule page.

The Dustdevils enter the match with a record of 1-1-0 (0-1-1) after falling in a back-and-forth match to St. Mary's at Dustdevil Soccer Field late Tuesday night. The Dusdevils twice came back to tie the match before conceding a late goal in their first loss of 2017.  The Greyhounds hit the road for the first time after starting the season 0-1-1 at home last weekend.

A LOOK AT THE ALL-TIME SERIES
It will be the fourth meeting between the two programs as the Greyhounds lead the series 3-0 with two of those wins coming in Laredo. The Dustdevils have been outscored 10-3 in the three career meetings including a 4-1 defeat on Sept. 26, 2015.

A LOOK AT THE GREYHOUNDS
Ryan Spence became the fifth women's soccer coach in the history of the Eastern New Mexico program on June 1, 2017 replacing Omar Morales who took a job with the Houston Dash of the National Women's Soccer League. He enters his first season in charge looking to turn around a program that hasn't had a winning season since 2014.

Spence and the Greyhounds are still looking for their first win of the 2017 season after finishing the first weekend of the fall 0-1-1 against a pair of schools from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.  Much like the Dustdevils, ENMU is a young squad with only eight upperclassmen along with 22 underclassmen.

Kaitlin Caro enters the second weekend of the season as the top scorer for ENMU with two goals and four points.  The Melissa, Texas native scored both of her goals in the Greyhounds season-opening 2-2 draw against Fort Lewis. Keyera Zuniga also scored a goal during ENMU's 2-1 defeat to Adams State. Naomi Abeyta  has been the top distributor with two assists from her defensive position.

Alejandra Camarillo joined the team this fall after spending the previous two years at Santa Barbara City College. The Goleta, Calif. native has played every minute in goal for the Greyhounds making eight saves including a career-high against FLC.

DUSTDEVILS IN THE RANKINGS
Cio Bargallo has had an impressive start to her sophomore campaign scoring five goals in the first two matches. Earlier in the week, she was named the Heartland Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career after her historic performance against Delta State. She leads an attack that ranks 12th nationally in scoring offense with an average of four goals per match.

Heading into the weekend, the Blanes, Spain native ranks second in the nation in goals per game (2.5) and third in points per game (5.0), total goals (5) and total points (10). Sophomore Monica Castro joins Bargallo in the rankings as the Dallas native sits ninth in assists per game (1.5) and total assists (3).

A FAMILIAR FACE ACROSS THE WAY
When the Dustdevils take the field for Friday's match, head coach Felipe Arias will see a familiar face across the field coaching the Greyhounds. Before taking the job at ENMU, Spence served as an assistant for a year at TAMIU under both Arias and his brother, Claudio.

NAME A BETTER TRIO, I'LL WAIT
Bargallo, Macias, Cohen.

The Dustdevil trio has been a force for opposing defenses since joining forces this past fall. They have combined to score seven of TAMIU's eight goals and 24 of their 32 shots so far this season. Bargallo has been in the limelight since tying a Heartland Conference record with four goals in the season opener but it was Valeria Macias and Nicole Cohen who stole the show against St. Mary's on Tuesday night.

Macias, a transfer from Texas State, scored her first of many goals for the Dustdevils on a shot that would make Lionel Messi applaud. The Laredo native got the ball on the left side of the pitch near the 18-yard box before curling the ball past the goalkeeper's outstretched hands near the far post.

Cohen also got on the tally sheet for the first time on Tuesday night on a shot that would still going if it wasn't for the net. The freshman showed her tenacity winning a 50/50 ball in the midfielder before turning on the jets and launching the ball into the back of the net from 20 yards out. Her performance gave a glimpse of what Dustdevil nation can expect from her for the next four years.
