LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International Women's Soccer Head Coach
Felipe Arias announced the signings of Nayeli Betancourt, Vivian Martinez, Karina Serrano and Jessica Simental on Monday. All four hail from El Paso, Texas.

Felipe Arias said. "We are looking forward to coaching them, and we know they'll definitely contribute to the team and help raise our level of competitiveness!"

Nayeli Betancourt
Â
A native of the Sun City, Betancourt played four years at Pebble Hills High School, serving as captain during her senior season. She is the daughter of Erika Sealey and five siblings, Keith, Deidra, Kathia, Alex, and Willy. She plans to major in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology.

Vivian Martinez
Â
Martinez comes to Laredo after four highly decorated years at Socorro High School. In her freshman campaign she was named the 1-6A Newcomer of the Year, 1-6A All-District Forward and El Paso Times All-City Freshman of the Year. She followed that up in her sophomore season with 1-6A Offensive MVP, 1-6A First Team All-District and El Paso Times All-City 1
st Team honors. Martinez was just as successful in club soccer as well playing for the Latinas, Rush and Sereno SC. Martinez plans to major in Biology with plans to go to dental school.

Karina Serrano
Â
A four-year starter at center-midfield, Serrano had a very successful career at Socorro High School. In her sophomore season, she racked up 11 goals with nine assists. She followed that up with six goals and 11 assists in her junior season. Serrano closed out her Socorro career with seven goals and 11 assists in her senior campaign. She helped lead her team to the 2016 regional championship and the 2017 bi-district championship. In 2018, she was named the 1-6A All-District Honorable Mention Midfielder.

In her club career, Serrano was just as successful for Cosmos FC, starting four years at forward. She helped her team finish atop the Surf Cup Bracket twice, and led them to a Surf Cup Finals appearance once.

She plans to major in Nursing.

Jessica Simental
Â
Jessica Simental comes to TAMIU after two seasons at Barton Community College in Great Bend, Kansas. At Barton, she finished her two years with 11 goals in 37 games with 27 starts as a right back and midfielder. She graduated from Riverside High School in El Paso, Texas in 2016. She plans to major in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology.
