They managed to push out to a 13-8 lead before the Rambelles mounted a 9-0 run to take their first lead at 18-13. TAMIU bounced back immediately and cut the lead to 18-16 on a three pointer from Heyn with 1:42 left in the period. However, ASU counterpunched and took a 22-18 lead into the second quarter.

The final 10 minutes of half were even more volatile than the first, and featured six lead changes and six ties. The Rambelles regained control at 30-28 and ran out to a 37-33 lead with three and half minutes left in the half. The final minutes of the half were chaotic as both teams traded the lead back and forth from one shot to the next. ASU came out on top and took a 41-39 advantage into the intermission.

After the break, things remained close as the third quarter featured three lead changes and four ties. While the Rambelles continued to hold the lead for the majority of the quarter, TAMIU began to turn the tides in the later half of the period. With two minutes left in the quarter, the Dustdevils took the lead 58-56 and carried the advantage into the final 10 minutes.

In the opening moments of the fourth quarter, ASU tried to keep it close with two lead changes and a tie. However, the Dustdevils took the lead to stay at 64-62 with 7:23 left in the game. From there, TAMIU went on a 13-4 run to take a 75-66 advantage. The Rambelles tried to mount a comeback coming within six points multiple times, but TAMIU responded by taking their largest lead of the game at 86-75 with 23 second left. They eventually took the upset victory 86-76.

The Dustdevils will return to Laredo on Thursday, Feb. 27 for the final homestand of the regular season as they host Tarleton.
