LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International men's and women's golf ready themselves to host the annual Jack Brown Memorial Golf Tournament, as play begins tomorrow, Feb. 7.

The tournament will take place over two days from the Laredo Country Club in Laredo, Texas, with day one playing 36 holes of golf for rounds one and two and the final round on Tuesday, Feb. 8.

On the women's side, it is a loaded group with nine teams, eight from the NCAA Division II level and one from NCAA Division III competing in the tournament. Of the eight NCAA Division II schools, seven are currently ranked in the top 50 of the NCAA standings.

Host TAMIU comes into the tournament ranked 34th in the NCAA after a spectacular Fall. The Dustdevils placed second in the DBU Fall Invitational, followed by fourth-place finishes at the Westminster Fall Invitational, CSU-Pueblo Fall Invitational and the Fort Lewis Fall Invitational.

Defending NCAA Division II National Champion, current third ranked team and Lone Star Conference member DBU is in the field, after placing top three in four of five Fall tournaments, including two victories.

Another LSC member, West Texas A&M, currently ranked 11th is looking to avenge last year's second-place finish in the Jack Brown Memorial, coming just one stroke away from victory. The Lady Buffs did have the individual winner as Loukyeee Songprasert won with a score of +7 over three rounds.

St. Mary's, last year's third place finisher, comes in ranked 14th, while Biola holds a ranking of 28th and two other LSC members, UT Tyler and Angelo State come in with rankings of 46th and 50th respectively.

Texas A&M-Kingsville and NCAA Division III Schreiner University round out the women's field who will have both a new team and individual champion crowned. Last season's team champion, Texas A&M-Commerce, is not competing in the Jack Brown Memorial this season.

On the men's side, six teams will take the course, with five teams from NCAA Division II, four coming from the LSC and one NCAA Division III team as well.

TAMIU will look to have a positive start to the Spring on its home course, after placing 13th, 15th and T-8th in their three Fall tournaments.

St. Mary's enters the field as the highest ranked team in the NCAA, finishing the Fall with two top 10 placements of sixth at the CSU-Pueblo Fall Invitational and fourth at the Midwestern State Men's Invite.

DBU's men will join the field after earning four top 10 team finishes in the Fall, alongside the fourth LSC member UT Tyler also had two top 10 finishes in the Fall.
Northwestern Oklahoma State joins the Jack Brown Memorial as the fifth NCAA Division II team in the tournament, while NCAA Division III Schreiner round out the field on the men's side.
