Senior Juan Monckeberg Finishes Play In NCAA DII Regional

STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA --  Senior Juan Monckeberg represented TAMIU in the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship West/South Central Regional finishing his final round Saturday at The Reserve at Spanos Park. 

Monckeberg was one of eight players to be selected across the country to participate in individual play of three rounds consisting of 18 holes on a standard 72 par course. 

After round one Monckeberg stood at 40th overall, fifth out of the eight individual players selected with a round score of 73, one over par.  In day two Monckeberg responded with a one under par score of 71 tying him for 30th overall and third out of the eight individuals. 

In the final round Monckeberg went two over par placing him 32nd overall out of 108 participants. 

Monckeberg finishes his collegiate playing career with four straight selections to the NCAA DII Men's Golf Championship, two as a Dustdevil. 

His senior season was comprised of winning all conference honors, player of the week honors, and a first place tournament win in the Oak Tree Invitational despite single digit temperatures. 

The son of Juan and Carla Monckeberg, Juan has been playing golf since the age of four and has grown into a professional.

Before coming to TAMIU Juan played with the Glenville Pioneers of West Virginia and in 2023 won Freshman of The Year, First Team All-Conference, and 2nd place MVP Conference List all while averaging 74.5. 

At TAMIU Juan collected player of the week honors twice, two tournament wins, and two straight NCAA selections. 

Dustdevils Men's Golf looks forward to continuing play next season.
