ROCKWALL, TEXAS – The Dustdevils Men's Golf Team competed in the Lone Star Conference Championship, finishing 12th as a team after 54 holes of play.
Twelve teams from the Lone Star Conference competed in three rounds of 18 holes over two days of play on a 72-par course.
After two days of play, the UT Tyler Patriots won the conference championship, going a total of 25 over par.
TAMIU after two days of play (401/410/402=1,213) finished 12th overall going 90 over par.
Senior Juan Monckeberg led the team after three rounds of play, finishing 36th overall with a total of 16 over par collecting seven birdies over three rounds (77/78/77 =232).
Senior Elvis Steen placed 38th overall, going 17 over par collecting seven birdies in three rounds of play (76/76/81= 233).
Sophomore Brody Polzin finished 27 over par after three rounds of play (83/79/81 = 243)
Freshman Francisco Aceves finished 31 over par after three rounds of play collecting five birdies in his performance (78/89/80 = 247).
Head Coach Rudy Gonzalez reflected on his teams performance.
"Tough spring golf season, no doubt but growth doesn't always show on the scoreboard. This group learned through adversity, and built something that'll carry forward."
This championship is not the end of the Dustdevils season as they head to Palm Beach, Florida for the PGA Works Tournament May 4th.
