LAREDO, Texas - Texas A&M International University men's basketball head coach Mac McConnell announced the signing of John Achebe to the 2022 recruiting class.
 
The Wylie, Texas native, Achebe is joining TAMIU from Collin College where he played under Coach Jim Sigona. Achebe was named to First Team All-Conference and honored on the All-Region V team.  
 
During his time in high school, Achebe was dual sport athlete participating in both basketball and track and field. At Wylie High School, Achebe's performance on the court earned him a First Team All-District and All- Region honor.
 
A Collin College, Achebe started 28 out of the 28 games during the season and averaged 14 points per game. His field goal percentage was 58% and his three-point percentage was 37%. 
 
Achebe chose TAMIU as an opportunity to be led by coaches who will push him to be the best athlete he can be. As Achebe starts his career at TAMIU, he will be pursuing his Bachelors in Business.
