LAREDO, Texas - Texas A&M International University men's basketball head coach
Mac McConnell announced the signing of
Mike Rivera to the 2022 recruiting class.
The San Juan, Puerto Rico native joins TAMIU after his time at Odessa College under Coach Kris Baumann. Rivera was force a from the three-point line as he shot 38.9 percent, and his field goal percentage was 54.7%.
On the 2021-2022 season, Rivera put up 178 points and played 34 games. The six-eight sophomore had a total of 118 rebounds on the year and averages 3.5 rebounds a game.
Before his time at Odessa, Rivera played for the Seward County Saints where he played 16 games and put up a total of 100 points under Coach Jason Sautter. Additionally, he played for James Monroe High School as a four-year varsity player.
Rivera chose TAMIU as he enjoyed the mentality of the coaching staff and the goals they wanted to achieve in the coming seasons. As Mike starts his career at TAMIU he will be pursuing his Bachelors in Business Administration.
