DENTON, Texas – Texas A&M International volleyball concluded its time at the Lone Star Conference Crossover Tournament with its third consecutive 3-0 victory, defeating Western New Mexico.

TAMIU (9-3, 0-0 LSC) opened with a spark, thrashing the Mustangs (2-10, 0-0 LSC) 25-13 in the first set.

The Dustdevils in set two would hold a 12-10 lead, but began to pull away with a 5-1 run to take the victory 25-18.

In the final set, TAMIU trailed for the first time in the game when Western New Mexico took a 14-13 lead, but the Dustdevils would take over the lead and never trailed again, taking the set 25-22.

Senior
Megan Menchaca had 12 kills to lead the way for TAMIU, while graduate student
Mackenzie Catalina had 10 kills with no errors and yet another double-double with a team high 20 digs.

Sophomore
Lixai Perez followed Catalina with 13 digs, while sophomore
Giulia Hortelan added nine kills and eight digs.

Freshman setter
Emma Lade put together 36 assists in the contest and a team best two service aces.

After a successful non-conference slate, the Dustdevils jump into conference play with their home opener on Wednesday, Sept. 14 against Texas A&M-Kingsville. Opening serve is slated for 6 p.m. inside the KCB.
