ANDERSON, South Carolina - Texas A&M International concludes its play in the Electric City Invitational this afternoon with their second sweep of the day over Converse University.
Mackenzie Catalina and setter Emma Lade started off strong for the Dustdevils as they combined to take a commanding lead over the Valkyries. In the first set, both teams battled back and forth until the Dustdevils took control of the set. Valentina Bahamon would enter the set on game point and make the kill to send the Dustdevils into the second set. The TAMIU defense would hold strong as well, as they held the Valkyries to only 15 points.
The second set started similar to before, with the first handful of points going back and forth until the Dustdevils went on a 9-point run to extend their lead. The Dustdevils continued to dominate as six different players went on to have services aces. Setter, Kayla Quintana set up success for Ariana Guerra as they combined for game-point and kept the Valkyries to only 14 points on the set.
The third set looked to still be in favor of TAMIU, but the Valkyries would not go down easy. The Dustdevils went on a 5-point run to win the set and take the sweep over the Valkyries. Ariana Guerra would find herself again on the end of a game-point ball as she made the kill from Emma Lade.
