DENTON, Texas – Texas A&M International volleyball bounced back in its second game at the Lone Star Conference Crossover Tournament, defeating Midwestern State in straight sets, 3-0.

In the opening set, TAMIU (7-3, 0-0 LSC) pulled out a 25-21 victory, thanks to a 4-1 runs to close the set after the Mustangs (1-8, 0-0 LSC) closed a once 21-16 deficit to 21-20.

The Dustdevils cruised in set two, to the tune of 25-13. It was a close set up to the score of 12-8, before TAMIU closed out on a 13-5 run for the victory.

In the final set, the Dustdevils fought back and forth before leading 21-17 late. Midwestern State used a 5-1 run to tie things at 22, but TAMIU locked in to seal the set and the match.

Graduate student
Mackenzie Catalina led the team on the offensive side with 17 kills and made it a double-double with 11 digs. Senior
Megan Menchaca had 12 kills with just one error and a .423 hitting percentage in 23 attempts.

Lixai Perez secured a team best 17 digs and as followed by fellow sophomore
Giulia Hortelan who had 16 to go alongside 11 kills for the double-double.

Freshman setter
Emma Lade earned herself a double-double as well, with 41 assists and 13 digs on the defensive side.

After a 1-1 Thursday, the Dustdevils stick around Denton until Saturday, with a single game both Friday and Saturday. Friday's matchup is against Cameron and begins at 10 a.m.
