Box Score EDMOND, Texas – Texas A&M International men's basketball bounced back into the conference win column, defeating Oklahoma Christian 78-64 on Saturday.
Both teams saw big runs at the beginning of the game, with the Dustdevils (13-10, 6-9 LSC) jumping ahead 8-0, but was quickly followed by a 10-3 Eagles run to cut the deficit to one.
Trailing 11-10, Oklahoma Christian (9-14, 5-12 LSC) allowed TAMIU to go on a 23-11 run that lasted nearly 11 minutes to stretch the lead to 34-21.
The Eagles closed the final minute of the first half on a 5-2 run to make the score 36-26.
Out of halftime, The Dustdevils held its double-digit advantage for nearly 12 minutes and led by as much as 15.
Oklahoma Christian came as close as 53-47, but TAMIU slowly pulled away and captured a 73-62 lead with just under two minutes left to play and never trailed by less than 11 the rest of the way.
For the game, TAMIU still finished the night going 28-for-52 (53.8%) from the floor, but were just 4-for-12 from three. From the foul line, the Dustdevils capitalized on 18 of 28 attempts.
On the other side, the Eagles finished 17-for-47 (36.2%) from the field, and 2-for-7 (28.6%) from deep, while going 28-35 from the foul line.
TAMIU was led offensively by sophomore
Lonzo Rand, who scored 20 points.

Tyrese Davis added 13 points, senior
Shea Rax scored 13 points, and freshman
Bobby Torres scored 10 as well with four assists. Sophomore
Tiras Morton grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
The Dustdevils plays in game two of a four-game road trip on Monday, Feb. 6 for a 7:30 p.m. tip against UAFS.
