2023 Jack Brown Memorial Invitational Preview

LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International men's and women's golf are excited to once again host the Jack Brown Memorial Invitational from the Laredo Country Club, beginning Monday, Feb. 6 and concluding on Tuesday, Feb. 7.

This marks the third straight year the Jack Brown Memorial will take place at the Laredo Country Club.

The course will play as a par 72 and a total of 5,929 yards for the women and a par 72 with a total yardage of 6,994 yards for the men.

New to 2023, the Jack Brown Memorial will go to a 36-hole format as compared to the 54-hole format of the past.

Monday's round will begin at 9 a.m. and Tuesday's final round is set to begin at 8 a.m. with 18 holes being played each day.

The women's side of the tournament will feature 11 teams, including St. Mary's, #19 UT Tyler, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Angelo State and #6 West Texas A&M from the Lone Star Conference. Also joining the field are #24 Biola, Academy of Art, Houston-Victoria, Ashland and Fort Lewis.

Redshirt senior Yuliana Yapur enters the tournament for TAMIU as the 69th ranked golfer in NCAA Division II, while sophomore Bailey Anderson also sits in the top 100 in 93rd.

A new team champion will be crowned as DBU won the 2022 Jack Brown Memorial, and a new individual champion will be crowned as well. Last year's champion was Sami Penor from Biola who shot a 215 (-1) over the three rounds.

In the men's side of the tournament will feature seven teams, including St. Mary's, Lubbock Christian and UT Tyler from the Lone Star Conference, as well as Houston-Victoria, Fort Lewis and Texas A&M-San Antonio.

Junior Mauricio Figueroa highlights the field for the Dustdevils, entering as the third ranked golfer in NCAA Division II.

St. Mary's will look to defend its 2022 Jack Brown Memorial team championship, winning last year by 37 strokes, shooting an 877 (+13) over the three rounds.

2023 will see a new individual champion as 2022 champion Ryan Dixon from St. Mary's, who is now a volunteer coach for the Rattlers won by seven strokes, shooting a 212 (-4) for the tournament.
