DALLAS, Texas - Texas A&M International men's basketball fought off a late rally from DBU to bounce back into the conference win column, defeating the Patriots on Thursday in a road battle.

Both teams traded buckets at the beginning of the game, with DBU (13-12, 8-9 LSC) holding an 8-7 lead after four and a half minutes, the Dustdevils responded with a 9-2 run to take a six-point lead.

TAMIU (14-11, 7-10 LSC) found itself on the other end of a 9-2 run from the Patriots who took a 19-18 lead with 9:55 left in the first half. It was the last lead of the game for DBU.

The Dustdevils outscored the Patriots 32-11 in the second half of the first period to take a 40-28 lead.

Out of halftime, TAMIU went on a 7-2 run to grow its lead to 17 points, the largest of the game.

DBUÂ started to battle back and tied the game at 55-55 with just under seven minutes to play, but the Dustdevils went on a 6-0 over the next 3:37. The Patriots closed the game on an 8-1 run but fell short in the end.
For the game, TAMIU finished the night going 24-for-51 (47.1%) from the floor, and were 5-for-19 (26.3%) from three. From the foul line, the Dustdevils capitalized on 12 of 16 attempts.

On the other side, DBU finished 24-for-57 (42.1%) from the field, and 5-for-17 (29.4%) from deep, while going 11-for-14 from the foul line.

TAMIU was led offensively by senior Jermain Drewey who scored 13 points along with three rebounds.

Graduate Student Greg Bowie II added 12 points and sophomore Tiras Morton grabbed seven rebounds and dished out five assists.

The Dustdevils finish their four-game road trip on Saturday, Feb. 11 for a 3 p.m. tip against UT Tyler.
