Figueroa Named NCAA Division II PING Second Team All-American

NORMAN, Okla. - Texas A&M International junior men's golfer Mauricio Figueroa was named to the NCAA Division II PING All-American Second Team, announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Tuesday.

Figueroa had a historic season for the Dustdevils, placing as an individual in the NCAA Division II National Championship, after placing fourth in the West/South Central Regionals. The third place finish was the best in program history.

He competed in three of the Dustdevils four fall tournaments, placing T-2nd at the DBU Fall Kickoff, T-4th at the NCAA West Regional Preview and won the individual championship at the Midwestern State Invitational. With his play in the fall, including all of 2021-22, Figueroa was named the top golfer in NCAA Division II entering Spring 2023.

This Spring, Mauricio finished T-4th at the Jack Brown Memorial Invitational host by TAMIU, followed by a ninth-place finish at the Rattler Invite, T-12th place at the King-Alfred Invitational and T-10th place at the RJGA Palm Valley Classic, before finishing third in the LSC Championship to earn the regional bid.
