Dustdevils Drop Road Doubleheader to #8 Rambelles

SAN ANGELO, Texas – Texas A&M International dropped both games of a Lone Star Conference softball doubleheader at #8 Angelo State on Friday evening, falling 9-1 and 8-0 in five innings.

The Dustdevils struggled offensively across the two games, recording four combined hits while the Rambelles built early leads in both contests.

In the opener, Angelo State scored three runs in the first inning and added two more in the second to take a 5-0 advantage. The Rambelles broke the game open with a four-run fourth inning to secure the run-rule victory.

Texas A&M International scored its lone run in the fifth inning when Damaris Saldivar singled and later scored on an RBI groundout by Kennedy Griego. Austyn Marriage and Victoria Espinoza each added hits, with Espinoza recording a double for the Dustdevils' only extra-base hit of the game.

In the second game, Angelo State pitching limited the Dustdevils to just one hit while building a steady lead. The Rambelles took the lead on a solo home run in the second inning and extended the advantage to 3-0 in the third with a sacrifice fly and another homer.

Angelo State added a run in the fourth before scoring four runs in the fifth inning to complete the doubleheader sweep via run rule.

Austyn Marriage recorded Texas A&M International's only hit in the nightcap with a fourth-inning single.

Texas A&M International falls to 4-15 overall with the losses.

PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: Austyn Marriage is a freshman catcher for Texas A&M International University and is currently pursuing a degree in Biology. A native of Bloomington, Indiana, Austyn is the daughter of Casie and David Marriage, and was born on September 6, 2007.

Marriage led the Dustdevils at the plate, reaching base three times in Game 1 and adding the lone hit in Game 2. Marriage finished the day 2-for-4 and accounted for half of Texas A&M International's hits in the doubleheader.
